Key takeaways
- This is a curated list of auto writers that show up in Colorado crash claims — not the Division's full licensed-company roster.
- The name on the check or declarations page is often a paper company (Mid-Century, Garrison, Permanent General, Standard Fire), not the brand on the billboard.
- A Division complaint is a separate door from a lawyer. We do not file that complaint for you.
- If the claim is stuck and a named carrier has the file, ask for a free case review.
Sort the job into the right bucket
People search carrier names after a wreck for different reasons. Some need the claim process. Some need UIM. Some need the car valued. This page only answers: which licensed auto writer is on the file, and which lookalike names are not that writer.
| What you have | This page? | Where to go |
|---|---|---|
| Named auto carrier on the claim | Yes — the tables below | This hub, then a free review if it is stuck |
| How a Colorado injury claim works | No | Colorado injury claim process |
| Not enough coverage / UIM | No | Colorado UIM guide |
| Fault share | No | Comparative negligence in Colorado |
| Car value, total loss, or diminished value | No | Insurance offer too low for car damage |
| Want to buy a policy | No — we do not sell insurance | The carrier or an independent agent |
How to read the Division list versus this page
The Colorado Division of Insurance licenses life, health, surety, marine, crop, title, and hundreds of specialty writers. A Colorado crash claimant does not need that roster. The Division list answers who exists. This page answers which auto writers actually appear after a wreck — State Farm, GEICO, Progressive, the nonstandard names people search (Loya, The General), and the regional writers licensed here.
Colorado requires auto liability at 25/50/15. What that floor covers, and what it does not, lives on our auto insurance requirements guide. Hire help for a Denver crash lives on our Denver car accident lawyer page. This hub does not retarget those jobs.
Curated Colorado auto writers
One consumer name per brand. Subsidiaries stay on the paper column, not as their own URLs. Carrier pages will publish the full licensed-entity row (NAIC, legal name, registered agent, address, lines, Colorado effective date) when each spoke ships. Until then the name is an index row, not a doorway stub.

Same name, different company
Search and declarations pages mix brand names with unrelated licenses. Farmers Mutual Hail is crop hail, not Farmers Insurance Exchange. Loyal American Life is not Loya. National Fire of Hartford is usually CNA paper, not The Hartford. Mid-Century, Garrison, and Standard Fire go the other way: they look like strangers and are still Farmers, USAA, and Travelers paper.
Those lookalikes do not get their own URLs. They belong on the parent brand's table when that spoke ships.
| Name on paper / search | NAIC | Not | Parent brand |
|---|---|---|---|
| Farmers Mutual Hail of Iowa | 13897 | Farmers Insurance Group (crop hail) | Farmers |
| Farmers Alliance Mutual | 19194 | Farmers Insurance Group | Farmers |
| National Farmers Union P&C | 16217 | Farmers Insurance Group | Farmers |
| Ohio Farmers | 24104 | Farmers Insurance Group (Westfield) | Farmers |
| Loyal American Life | 65722 | Loya Insurance Company 11198 | Loya |
| Loyal Christian Benefit Association | 56758 | Loya Insurance Company 11198 | Loya |
| National Fire Insurance Company of Hartford | 20478 | Hartford Group (usually CNA paper) | Hartford (later) |
| GEICO Marine | 37923 | GEICO auto writers | GEICO |
| Mid-Century Insurance Company | 21687 | a miss — this is Farmers paper | Farmers |
| Garrison Property and Casualty | 21253 | a miss — this is USAA paper | USAA |
| The Standard Fire Insurance Company | 19070 | a miss — this is Travelers personal paper | Travelers |
Registered agent is not the claims office
Colorado's licensed-company list prints a registered agent for service of process. For a large share of out-of-state writers that is Corporation Service Company at 1900 W Littleton, or CT Corporation at 7700 E Arapahoe in Centennial. Hundreds of unrelated companies share those addresses. Do not call that office to report a crash. It is where a summons gets served, not where an adjuster sits.
License verify and a Division complaint
Confirm a company is licensed in Colorado through the Sircon consumer inquiry. If you need the Division itself, start on the file-a-complaint landing page. Consumer Services: 303-894-7490 / 800-930-3745 (outside the Denver metro), Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Email DORA_Insurance@state.co.us. We are not the Division and we do not file the complaint for you.
When a lawyer is the next step — and when it is not
A shop supplement, a short rental bill, or a Division paperwork question often does not need counsel. Quote shopping never does — we do not sell policies. A stuck injury claim, a coverage fight on your own UM/UIM, or a named carrier that will not move after you have sent the records is the job we actually take. If it is only the car, start with the lowball page above rather than this index.
Bad-faith and delay questions belong on the Colorado insurance bad faith explainer, not as a ranking of carriers.
Also in this index
Hartford, National General, Dairyland, COUNTRY Financial, Sentry, Bristol West, Root, and Great West Casualty now have spokes. Bristol West is Farmers nonstandard. Root is on the Division's 2026-09-01 active RA list. Great West is commercial truck.

Licensed-company fields (NAIC, legal name, registered agent, street, city/ZIP, lines, Colorado effective date) are copied from the Division's monthly registered-agent list dated 2026-09-01. Public license verify is Sircon. Consumer complaint path is doi.colorado.gov. We do not publish market-share percentages until we fetch the Division's Combined Private Passenger Auto table ourselves.
